Dear Customers,
There have been a lot of questions about some recent changes at 64 Audio, namely the switch from ADEL to apex technology. Many of you are wondering why 64 Audio will no longer be selling ADEL modules with our products. I wanted to answer some of your questions and shed some light on the situation.
ADEL technology was created, owned, and manufactured by a third party – Asius Technologies, LLC. 64 Audio partnered with Asius Technologies back in August, 2014, due to a shared vision. We felt that ADEL was a much-needed solution to the pneumatic pressure issues that conventional in-ear monitors created. Our partnership allowed us to offer our customers protection for their hearing, something that was and still is very important to us.
64 Audio put a considerable amount of research and development (R&D) resources, time, and marketing behind ADEL. While original plans were to have more of a partnership situation, Asius’ position today gives them ultimate control of ADEL, which includes dictating the number of module offerings, specifications of current and future technology, and licensing the technology to other IEM companies without mutual benefit to both parties. This disadvantage became a major issue for us because of our complete dependence on a third party providing a major component in our products.
The different visions that 64 Audio and Asius had for ADEL inevitably led us to a fork in the road. We reached a point where the communication issues and differences in vision between the two companies were beginning to threaten our inventory levels. We did not know when or even if we would be receiving the next shipment of ADEL modules. Our R&D team kicked into high gear to find a new solution. We tried numerous methods and materials, and discovered that there are many ways to relieve pneumatic pressure in a sealed ear canal. We found using a multi-cell studio-grade TPE material to be very effective and it actually yields more consistent results than what we had been getting with ADEL modules we received from Asius.
The apex modules are designed, tested, and manufactured at our own lab and because of this we are now able to attain much higher quality standards. Even though a change like this can be difficult, it ultimately enables us to produce the highest quality products on the market. We know our customers have come to expect nothing less from 64 Audio.
I also want to assure current owners of our products that this change doesn’t affect the warranty and support of our previously sold products. Please contact our support team if you have any questions. Email support@64audio.com or call 503-746-8510
We’re very excited for the future and we thank you for your business and support!
